Dynamic Joint CT scans: Why and how they’re performed with the new Canon Aquilion ONE/GENESIS Edition CT scanner
The innovative new solution that uses artificial intelligence to deliver fast and accurate CT imaging, while maintaining a higher level of patient comfort.
In late 2021, we expanded our CT program at Xplore Radiology Narellan by introducing the new Canon Aquilion ONE/GENESIS Edition CT scanner. This new technology allows us to provide clear, high resolution imagery that supports consistently accurate diagnoses.
We can now offer our patients fast, reliable and safe diagnostic MSK imaging. We’re able to perform Dynamic Volume imaging and routine anatomical imaging through a 4D process that can identify a wide variety of musculoskeletal functional disorders. The high resolution 4D information gathered through these scans is unattainable using other techniques, such as X-ray, Ultrasound and MRI.
This evolution in Dynamic Volume CT scanning also enables medical professionals to determine the exact cause of pain or immobility. This information is captured by specific movements of the joint during the scan.
The CT system is also equipped with Single Energy Metal Artifact Reduction (SEMAR), a technique used to reduce metallic artifact. This establishes increased clinical confidence, by enabling improved visualisation of the metallic implant, supporting bone and adjacent soft tissue.
How does it benefit you
The Canon Aquilion ONE / GENESIS Edition CT Scanner benefits body parts such as the wrist, elbow, ankle, knee and shoulder. We can now complete hand and foot examinations in a fraction of the time, and it only takes one, simple rotation to acquire complete diagnostic imagery.
The improved CT scan imagery helps doctors to more accurately identify a wide variety of musculoskeletal functional disorders. It also allows them to better assess the position and movement of injured ligaments. This means a more accurate diagnosis and a quicker road to recovery for you.
Patient comfort and convenience are also improved with the Canon Aquilion ONE / GENESIS Edition CT Scanner. This new technology is significantly faster than traditional CT scans, and our team of expert radiographers will be able to complete the scan in a matter of minutes.
Furthermore, this innovative CT technology significantly reduces radiation exposure, increasing safety for children and patients who require regular CT scans.
Xplore Radiology Narellan is now equipped with the Canon Aquilion ONE / GENESIS Edition CT Scanner and we’re excited for our patients to start experiencing the benefits of this new technology, as previous machines have not been able to perform this type of scan.
